The Power of Commitment (Ephesians 2:19-20)
Pastor Eric Jones, January 31, 2016Part of the series, preached at a Sunday service
COMMITMENT IS GOOD.
Members in most organizations are consumers; the organization exists to serve them. However, in the church (in God’s economy and in biblical membership) being a member means something completely different. It means each of us has a place and each of us are vital to what God is doing.
It means ministry and service, going from being a consumer or a bystander to becoming a provider (a distributor) of God’s love and care to others. And the Lord moves powerfully in and through a local church that understands this precept and is committed to it.
"Church membership is a blood-bought gift of God’s grace. More than most of us realize, it is a life-sustaining, faith-strengthening, joy-preserving means of God’s mercy to us. I urge you not to cut yourself off from this blessing." - John Piper
